Moving People Out of Unit

The Unit Status feature in OT 7 is slightly different than in previous version of OT. Previously Unit Status was tied to a person.  In OT 7 Unit Status is tied to a person’s job.  In this document we will describe how to leverage Unit Status most effectively in OT7.

You will find the Unit status on the Job Tab. In previous versions of the Toolbox, Unit Status was located on the Organize Tab.

In OT 7 there are two distinct ways that a person could be marked “Out of Unit”:

  1. Job terminated: there are various reason a job could have been terminated – promotions, a person quit, they were laid off, etc.  OT allows you to specify the reason and add any notes
  2. Not on Employer list: in this case, the person in question is still employed but for whatever reason their name does not appear on the Excelsior List the organizing campaign has received from the employer.

It is also quite possible that a person could be marked out of unit for a combination of the two option above.

To mark a person out of unit for a job termination, check the box “Job Terminated.” The date field will automatically populate with the current date, and you can then select a reason from the drop-down list the job was terminated, and then make any additional notes.

Two other items on the jobs will change to clearly indicate a job has been move out of unit.  The green X next to the In Project job in the upper left corner of the form will change from green to red.  And in the top right corner the message will change from “IN” to “OUT”

The second way to mark a job out of unit is to select the ”Exclude form unit” check box in the Job Status section.

Here again the date will auto-fill with the current date and you can select a reason for the exclusion from the drop-down list.  A red X will appear next to the job and the message “OUT” will appear in red type at the top right of the form.
