In Organizer’s Toolbox you sometimes want to save a report or extract to your own computer. This article will show you how to save a file to your own computer so that you can use it in the future. We will demonstrate two different scenarios, saving a PDF file to your computer and running an extract report. This article assumes the user is already familiar with running a report.
To save a report to your computer, you must be viewing the report from the last screen of the report wizard. Click the “Print” icon at the top of the screen
When the print dialog box appears, instead of selecting a local print attached or networked to your computer, select a PDF write from the “Printer Name” drop-down box. In this example, a PDF writer called “z Emergency PDF Writer” is selected.
As soon as you have selected a PDF writer click “OK”. You will then be presented with a “Save As” dialog box.
In the “Save in:” drop-down box find and select the drive labeled “C$ on ‘Client’ (V:)” this represents the hard drive on your computer.
One you have selected your hard drive, browse to a location on your computer to save the report. Many people choose to save these reports to their desktop because it is easy to find. In this example I have created a folder on my desktop to save all my OT reports in. After you have browsed to the location on your computer you wish to save your report, click “Save.”
Saving an extract to your computer is very similar to saving a report but the initial screens looks a bit different. After selecting the field you want in your extract file, click the “Export” button at the bottom of the “Selected Fields” list.
You will then be presented with a new dialog box that says “Export file to”. In the line that says “File name” click on the small folder to the right as shown below.
Similar to saving the PDF file to your computer, browse to the drive called “C$ on ‘Client’ (V:)’
Now find your desktop or folder where you will save your report. Name the file something meaningful and click “Save.”
Troubleshooting tip: if you are unable to find the drive “C$ on ‘Client’ (V:)’ it is probably because your Citrix Connections settings are preventing OT from writing files to your hard drive.
