How to Delete an Inactive Organizer from Toolbox

Over the years of working with Toolbox a union may have several different organizers work on a campaign for a period of time who then leave the organization for other campaigns.  Many unions want to retain the organizing history of the workers these former organizers come into contact with, but sometime you just want to clean up the list of organizers to so that you only see those who are currently working on a campaign.  The Toolbox provides a tool to delete inactive organizers and merge that organizing history to another organizer’s record.

Note: Please be aware that using this tool will transfer all assessments, assessment history, and organizing assignments from one organizer to another organizer and cannot be undone.  If you need to preserve any of this information for historical reason, we do not recommend using this tool.  This action can only be undertaken by a Toolbox Administrator.

To access the Organizer Delete / Merge tool, open the Organizer Module and locate the Organizer you’d like to get rid of.  In this example I will delete Organizer Dr. Dre:

After selecting the Organizer you intend to remove click the trash can at the bottom of the screen.  A new window will open and you will be presented with two choices:

  • Merge Organizer - If you select this option you will have access to a list of active staff to which you can transfer all current organizing assignments as well as any assessments the soon-to-be deleted Organizer may have made.
  • Deactivate - selecting this option will merely remove any organizing assignments, assessment, and assessment histories associated with this organizer.

For this example I will transfer Dr. Dre’s organizing and assessment information to Tupac Shakur’s by deleting and merging Dr. Dre’s record with Tupac:

When you return to the People Module and check assessments that had previously been attributed to Dr. Dre you’ll see that those assessments will now show that Tupac Shakur made the assessments.
