All job classes need to be assigned to a specific bargaining unit. Many unions use the same job classifications across different employers. In order to reduce data entry time, the Organizers Toolbox saves all the classifications you enter globally within the database. In other words, if you’ve already entered a job class for an existing employer, you don’t have to create a new class for a new employer if it named the same. All you have to do is attach that job class to the new bargaining unit you created for the new employer.
Open up the employer you want to add bargaining units for. In this case, we will create the Tech Bargaining Unit for Mercy General Hospital and add classifications to that new bargaining unit.
Go to the Barg. Units and Classes tab for Mercy General.

Note: The Organizers Toolbox allows for the possibility that different unions may represent different bargaining units within the same employer. By adding the different unions as Organizations in the Organizers Toolbox, you can track which union represents (or hopes to represent) different bargaining units for each employer.
Next, we will add job classifications to the new Tech Unit. Select the Tech Bargaining unit and click on the “Add Class to Barg. Unit” button.
In this example, we will add the “EEG Tech” to the Tech Bargaining unit from the drop-down list. Make sure the correct bargaining unit is selected.

Select EEG Tech from the list and click OK.
You will now see that the class has been added to the Tech Bargaining Unit.

If the job class is not currently in the list, you will need to add it. You do that by clicking on the “Dot” box after you have clicked on the “Add Class to Unit” button.

You can then add new classes to the list. In this example, we’ll add the new class of “Hose Winder”
Click the OK button.
Repeat this process for all new classes you would like to add and when you are finished, click the “Done” button.
You can now add the class to the correct bargaining unit.
How to add many classifications to a bargaining unit using “Easy Add”
If you have many classifications you would like to add to a bargaining unit at once, it’s quickest to use the Easy Add function.
Click on the “Add Class to Barg. Unit” button form the Class Tab. (Or go directly to the Class Module.)

Then select the appropriate bargaining unit and click on all the classes you would like to add at once.
