“Dot” Boxes: Adding custom values to drop-down menus

One of the great things about Organizers’ Toolbox is how customizable it is for each organization’s needs.  Throughout Toolbox you’ll notice “dot boxes” like this

next to most drop-down menus. Anyplace you see a Dot Box means that you can enter a custom value for future use by anyone else using the Toolbox.  However, you must have appropriate user permissions in order to modify the values in the Dot Boxes.

A few of the places you’ll find Dot boxes are:

  • Person Title
  • Person Suffix
  • Note Catagory
  • Ethnicity
  • Language
  • Job Shift
  • Work Status
  • Job Termination Reason

And several others places throughout Toolbox.

To add to or edit the the list of values in the Dot boxes, simply click on the box next to the drop-down menu, which will open a new window similar to this one:

In this example, we’ll add Laotian as a new Ethnicity to the database.  Once the “Edit List” window opens, place the cursor in the space at the bottom of the list and type in “Laotian” and click new and then done.  Now go back to the Ethnicity drop-down menu and select Laotian from the list.
