During the course of a campaign or through an import process it is not uncommon for similar job classes to be created at a particular employer. For example, Sometime you’ll have some workers job classes listed as “Certified Nursing Assistant” other you’ll see other listed as “CNA”. Using the Merge Job Class Tool in the Organizations Module you can now delete the undesirable job class and merge any workers from that job class to an already-existing job class. This document explains the process. (Note: In order to use the Job Class Merge Tool you must have at least Organization Edit Toolbox user permissions.)
In this example we will get rid of Nursing Assistant.
First, open the Organizations Module in the project in which you wish to edit the job class and click on the employer. Click on the Bargaining Units & Classes tab.
Next click the button “Add Class to BU”. The “Add Class to BU” screen appears as (Figure 1).

Click on the blue dot button to the right of the job class selector. The “Job Classes” window appears (Figure 2).
Figure 2 - Job Classes – Delete/Merge
Here you will now see a “Delete/Merge...” button that has replaced the “trash can” Delete button. Press it and you’ll see the screen displayed in Figure 3.

You’ll now see how the action of deleting the job class will affect your data in Toolbox. In this example, 3 person jobs will be affected at two employers. Use the dropdown box to select the job class that you would like to merge the deleted job classes into.
