Assessing workers is a key component of any organizing campaign and the Toolbox makes tracking worker assessments a snap with plenty of details to satisfy the most discerning Organizing Lead. To set up a new assessment, access the Assessments Module from the list.

To add a new Assessment click the small green “+” in the upper right corner of the window that opens.

A new window will open that will list all assessments already linked to the project (right pane), and any assessments not linked to the project (left pane). Since you’re creating a completely new assessment, click the “New Assessment” button at the bottom of the Link Assessments window.

Type in a descriptive name for your new assessment. in this example we will create a new assessment called “EFCA Supporter.” The default assessment scale is a 4-point assessment scale but you can make it as many or few as makes sense for your assessment. After entering the assessment name and setting the criteria, click “OK.”

After the Link Assessments window closes, select the newly-created assessment from the list as shown in the example below.

You’ll now need to create a meaningful description for each of the assessment values. as you can see, the default for each assessment description is “Value 0, Value, 1, Value 2,” etc.

Highlight the values you’d like to edit and then type in a new description for each value. in the example below, the values have been edited as follows: 0 = Unassssed, 1 = Will move EFCA postcards, 2= Will sign Postcard, etc. (Note: Assessment values in Toolbox should always be numeric (1, 2,3, etc) and not alphabetic (A, B, C, etc) due to the design of summary reports. If you use alphabetic characters rather than numeric many of the summary reports will not function properly.)

Once you’ve edited the Assessment values, go back to the person module and click the “Assessments / Actions” tab to see the new Assessment and begin assigning assessments to workers. For more information on using assessments for your campaigns, please see Understanding Assessment in the Toolbox User Support Library.
